When did we forget how to be ladies and gentelmen? When did it become ok to curse at all let alone in front of our children? In the school parking lot? To dress like harlets?
When did it become ok to go out in just whatever we wanted.
My mom always wears makeup. Never EVER leaves the house in sweats and no make up. I swear to God. I am going to the hospital to have Joseph had to be their early. She comes over to watch Derek it's like 5 am. She is dressed and wearing make up. Not tons but it's on. Why is my generation not like that? If it has a stain or a hole you cant wear it. She'll say to me "are you wearing that?" and I know I just know it's a no go.
The other day road rage took place at Derek's school. These moms got in to a fight on campus. Moms! I was mordified.
Then I read about a mom yelling at another mom in the grocery store parking lot in front of her daughter? What are we teaching our kids?
It's not tv. It's not movies. It's us. We have to take responsbility for our actions our words. Our kids are growing up to be just like us. Are you happy about that? Sadly sometimes I am not. I am going to work on that.

I too feel it whenever I raise my voice at Noah. OR the other day he kept pushing his feet on the coffee table that is like 12 years old and gonna fall apart any day now and I kept asking him to stop. He didn't stop. It wasn't life threatening but still, respect the house, respect the furniture blah blah blah and I finally got so mad that I stuck out my pointer finger and poked him HARD in the upper arm/shoulder area and got his attention and said "STOP pushing on the table it's going to break!" MAN he was NOT happy. And frankly, I wasn't happy with myself either. I don't like the phsyical stuff. Granted it wasn't a spank but still....
so later that night, at a completely different moment, I took the opportunity to explain about how the table is old and he needs to listen anyway and if he pushes on the leg what will happen step by step and suddenly it was like a light bulb went off and he said, "oh, ok I won't do it anymore" THEN he wanted to know how much a new table would cost and I told him probably $200 or so and he said to me this, "Well I ony have $32 so I guess I won't be giving you any of MY money for a new one" Why would we need a new one Noah? Your not going to push on the legs anymore so why do we need a new one? "oh yeah" he says...
UGH!
BUT I totally agree, we completely set the example for our kids. In every way, more than we know. I also think the exclamation point to all that IS the movies, the TV shows etc. They are influencing them, at least, that's what I think. I think if they are getting good guidance from us, then the other stuff is just bothersome but not their entire influence...
