I am getting heat about the safety comments and the Britney pic.
Yes yes we all road in the car in the back window and our parents smoked in that very same car, and we rode our bikes in the dark without helmets and we walked home from school and we turned out ok, we're still alive.
Yes we're still alive. But it's a different age now. I know you hate to hear that. We didn't share the road with SUV's back then, parents didn't commute hours every day for work.
Research and studies have shown that taking the precautions we do for our children save lives and the risk of injuries is decreased when we do the right thing, the safe thing.
It's not about anyone telling you what to do, grow up, it's about making sure kids are safe.

AND there has been the evolution of the cell phone which btw literally every other person on the road is talking on one. They didn't used to have that. Get this, back then, they actually concentrated on driving and the ROAD. Imagine that. I myself am guilty of driving and talking on the phone and it's scary. I scare myself. Point here: That is one major distraction our parents did not have back then. If only for that reason alone, be safe, and do what is right. I should tell myself this no? It's work. I blame it on work. That's my scapegoat.
I will say that my oldest son is alomst seven. He weighes 74 lbs now. He is not yet 80 lbs. He is not in a booster seat anymore. This has made me think. He is a substantial kid, he's solid as a rock. This has made me think.
If anything, that has to be a good thing right? It's making me think and consider....
