We finally finished Treasure Island! Phew. It took FOREVER but we did it.
What was Stevenson thinking?!?!? Clearly not written for children I would say but I am not sure who it was written for.
In case you havent read it... Long John Silvers is the cook in the story so there you go, go grab some hush puppies today and think of me.
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum comes from this book too.
It's a decent book, and the detail and descriptions are amazing. But I really do feel like I just got off that blasted boat and just found that treasure to be sure.
I think in a few months after we get our land legs back I'll read Moby Dick. Now there is a sea tale
We read to Derek every night. We drag out classics, The Hobbit, The Narnia Chronicles, and sometimes we read some of the Harry Potter books or any new ones he finds like the Eragon and Elder books. Dragon books any boy should really dig. I am happy to fuel his imagination this way.
What's on your summer reading list? Pick up something new or old and share it with a kid. But beware your two year old may get his leg stuck in his pants and hobble around say "ARRR ARRR ARRR" (insert eyeroll and forehead slap)
