I remember visiting you in the hospital when Derek was born. I remember you wearing those tennis shoes with your hospital gown. I remember bringing you something, knowing I should be there but yet, not really knowing what to say when I got there. I remember you being so worried and I think you were a bit irritated with me, maybe glad I was there but more than that, just wanted to be alone, I vaguely remember that feeling but nothing specific about it. I can't believe that was nine years ago, but it was. And think, just think, all that has happened between then and now. That's what is so amazing about this life, it just keeps happening, keeps coming at you and the little ones keep growing even though we wish they would stay this age forever.
