Grand Prize Daddy

This weekend it's been all about the daddy.

Saturday night Dominic took Derek on a boy scout camping trip. Dominic does not like camping not at all but he went. When I asked him if he had a good time he said "It was for Derek and he had a good time" I think he said it twice.
Today Dominic took the boys to school, picked them up, took Joseph for a hair cut and now the two of them are running errands. When I asked Joseph if he was my Juice today he said "No momma juice, no Derek juice, I dada juice" so very very true today. They are pretty good buddies those two. Derek would never "run" errands with Dominic still wont, not often now, Dom always asks him, he never wants to go, but Joseph always wants to go "Me come too" he'll say. And tomorrow when Daddy is back to work, the first thing Joseph will ask when he wakes up "Daddy home?" and he'll say "Oh Dang" when I tell him no. He is daddys boy for sure.

The little boy across the street does not live with his dad. This makes him very sad a lot. He is almost insanely jealous of Derek and another boy for having dads that live with them. And he acts out. His mother doesnt step up to the plate much and his father tries to be as good a father as he can be. So when the little boy said "My dad drops me off at Karate, we do that together" it made me pretty sad. We dont generally drop our kids off for events. We stay we participate. It's not always the most fun for us but it's not about us. Even when it's camping.

So we got an invitation to a family event the weekend of our anniversary. Dom and I had plans to go to lunch at the Cheesecake factory. We have not been able to go to this event in years past because it seemed Dom always had drill. So I said "We shall go" he said "what about our anniversary plans" I said "We have to change them" he said "Are you sure?" I said "Yes" and there you go they have been changed. Our boys will hang out with cousins they really like but dont see much, Dom will see family he really likes and doesnt see much.
They will have a good time. They will have a good time.
