Joseph's Song

Josephs song is a pretty simple one too. It was an older song I had heard before.
We were sitting in the MRI office. He was still sedated and I knew I just knew the test showed SOMETHING. It was not going to be inconclusive. I held him and my tears kept falling on his head. I kept rubbing them in, if only momma tears could heal him.
This song came on and it felt like all I wanted was the past year to go away. Dominic in Iraq, this MRI and what was to follow. I wanted simplicity. Not all the craziness that was ahead and all the craziness that we had just had.

He likes that it's got cowboy in it. It's his momma song.

Dixie Chicks - Cowboy Take Me Away
I said I wanna touch the earth I wanna break it in my hands
I wanna grow something wild and unruly
I wanna sleep on the hard ground
In the comfort of your arms
On a pillow of blue bonnets
In a blanket made of stars
Oh it sounds good to me I said

Cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can
Into the wild blue
Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above and
Closer to you closer to you

I wanna walk and not run
I wanna skip and not fall
I wanna look at the horizon
And not see a building standing tall
I wanna be the only one
For miles and miles
Except for maybe you
And your simple smile
Oh it sounds good to me I said
It sounds so good to me

Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above and
Closer to you closer to you
I
