Today on the way to my dad's house the boys and I witnessed a group of may 6 or 7 kids in various ages walking down the street and knock over a trash can. I stopped and asked them if they were going to pick it up? The oldest boy acted like he didnt do it why should he pick it up? The two youngest ones scared out of his mind turned around to pick it up. As I drove off Derek noticed that once we were gone they stopped and left and did not pick it up.
I followed them with my phone in my ear. They turned white. Then they ran.
I went over and picked up the trash can. Then I went around the corner and found them and told them that I had picked it up not to worry about it Merry Christmas.
I wanted to teach my sons that you just dont do that. And picking it up was the right thing to do. I wanted the younger boys to see you cant just make messes like that even if the older boys weren't going to do anything.
If I hadn't had the boys in the car I might have done more. But I had to think of their safety.
Crazy maybe. I dont know what their parents have to say about this behavior but I want my sons to see that someone is always watching you and it's just best to do the right thing.

What they are teaching us in teacher school is that most kids today do not have more than 15 minutes per day with their parents. So, there you go.
It's sad today how kids are; no? I mean, seriously, can their parents not see it? I guess with the 15 minutes thing, I guess not. --- You definitely did the right thing. Sent a message to your boys and also the younger ones of the group. I'm so there.
