October

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month
"Workers with Disabilities: Talent for a Winning Team" is the theme of this year's National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Designated by a congressional resolution, every October we focus on issues surrounding disability and the workplace.

People with disabilities have made great progress in the workplace; however, barriers to gaining and maintaining employment still exist. The 2004 National Organization on Disability/Harris Survey of Americans with Disabilities report found that only 35 percent of people with disabilities reported being employed full or part time, compared to 78 percent of those who do not have disabilities. For more disability and employment statistics, visit the National Organization on Disability Web site.

United Cerebral Palsy is committed to helping people with disabilities gain meaningful employment. Our affiliates across the country help job seekers and employers find employment solutions.
