Dom said today he had no idea he married such a sports girl. It's true. I went through a period of time when I wasn't very sports minded. Jocks did nothing for me in high school.
But, I did grow up with sports playing uncles. I spent many a summer evening at the softball field watching my dad and uncles play and then head over to Norms for some pizza and video games. I played basketball in school and I enjoyed covering the sports sections in the yearbook. I have always loved football and I do blame Dominic for my current hockey obsession he and his cousin Mark (well and Joseph too, ok and Nabby and Curtis Brown oh and Doug Wilson, sorry) they all created this monster.
Plus now I have boys and while one boy would rather die than play any sports (Derek) which is just a shame because he can be pretty good at them when he tries. I have another boy that will play any sport, watch any sport and gives it his all. (Joseph) We watched Lacrosse and Rugby this past week, I am not even kidding in between checking the stages of the Tour. (Love Sastre, can't stand Evans...sorry)
Yesterday Joseph put his head on my shoulder and said "Mama how long till hockey?" I told him we have 1 month and 23 days. I know baby I miss it too.
In the mean time we have the Tour and the Olympics are coming and our newest thing is listening to Sports Radio at night to fall asleep. At first it was just boring enough to knock us out pretty quickly since all they talk about right now is baseball and we don't follow baseball much. But now it's getting interesting and the boys are asking for the sports channel at night. The other night the question was "If you could get a pair of the $30 seats and all of the food and drinks you want for the whole game would you eat a dead beetle?" My boys said no they would not. I said "Well for hockey I would but not for a baseball game."
Last night it came to our attention this story about snacks that Seattle is banning from it's stadium. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Top-O-The-Order-DON-T-buy-me-some-peanuts-and-?urn=mlb,95734
Apparently other stadiums are following suit for limited games. This is crazy. I think this peanut thing is going way too far. How about those that are allergic to people throwing the F-word after every line change can we have our own section? How about a no smelly men section I would like that? No. it's part of sports F words and smelly men, when did we all turn into such pansy's?

I call foul! Part of the fun of some sporting events is the snacks. This is just crazy.
Dom wonders why I care, we don't go to baseball games. I say sure now it's peanuts and now it's just baseball but how long before other sports follow suit? How long before they go after other foods? I say keep your hands off my nachos and garlic fries we hockey fans know how to fight.
He laughs at me the sports girl I have become. He said my summer mood swings are all from part of my hockey withdrawals, maybe he's right.
