I have a house full of boys...again. I am outnumbered big time. Dom just left for work but still I am outnumbered.
My two boys, plus a friend of Derek's from school, but the two boys from across the street. Yes that's five boys.
And boys are sort of loud. They play loud games. They don't play polly pocket or Barbies on the floor. They don't play dress up or restaurant or Olympic figure skater or news reporter or make a newspaper or sing Grease songs someone always had to be the guy. No they play nerf guns and race car and Star Wars.
I am glad they are playing and having a good day but let me tell you something else, that many very physical boys on a warm August day sure do start to stink. sigh. Then they take their shoes off I am sure I am going to die!
They are outside now trying to melt something with a magnifying glass. They tried this once before remember. Different group of boys. I had a stern talk with them and the water hose is close by.
The father of the two boys across the street is so strict and stern it makes me sad for these nice boys. I am sure they are polite and nice because of him but all he does it yell at them. "HEY I would like to see you do something right for a change" he yells across the street. Nice.
"GET over here and do this NOW" like he has said it a million times already. They walk a straight line out of fear I think. But they are nice and polite so... I guess you can just raise your kids how ever you want.
So now Derek is going to have a little sleep over with one of the boys. He's a good boy, very polite it will be fine. I gotta get that lap top working so I can hide in the bedroom while they watch the boys shows.
Maybe I'll have granddaughters one day.

You know I never knew the 'sound' difference between boys and girls until I had a little girl 10 years after having my boys! Boys games are much louder, I will admit but T-Monkey can do this unreal screaming thing that the boys never did that sends chills down my spine. I'm sorry to hear about the neighbor boys. Sure they may be polite but he is instilling in them low self-esteem and probably an incredible dose of shyness and stress. It's probably a great relief for them at your house- they probably feel safe and relaxed. They will be in my prayers.
