I too won't let my son watch Spongebob. My sister won't let her little girl watch it and I have a friend at work that will not let her kids watch it either. Yep, I guess I'm weird too. :)
But a weirdo that is ultra anal and careful as to what goes in the eyes and the brain of a little kid. It's all just junk. So much better TV out there AND I also make him just turn off the TV a lot too. He reads or I play with him or he goes out on the trampoline etc etc. He's not a total outside kid-I don't have to beg him to come in or anything, I can promise you that AND he doesn't like that I just turn off the TV but he doesn't throw a fit. He goes with the flow. I hope in the end, I'm doing the right thing. Too much TV-bad. Too much junk TV-worse. There are a LOT of shows he can't watch. And his friends will say hey lets watch blah blah and Noah will say I can't watch that and he's fine with it. I love that. I think it's all good in the end. He knows there are rules :) Please someone tell me this is good.
I also agree with keeping children away from Sponge Bob. There was an episode where Sponge Bob went on a Panty Raid. I really think this is something that isn't for my 7 year old to watch. This is a personal decision that we made as parents. I admit, Sponge Bob isn't as bad as say....Beavis and Butthead.
