Birthdays!

I like to celebrate. I think every little thing in life should be celebrated. Cards, flowers, cake parties. Celebrate. And I know where I get this.
When I graduated from high school my mom and I were shopping for my dress and for some reason I looked in to the jewlery case and saw a nice pearl ring and she said "Well let me buy it for you for graduation" and that was that. I got a party and a card and that ring. There was no real moment of giving me that ring we're so proud of you. Just here you go.
When I got married my dad bought her a diamond tennis bracelet and well I guess since I got the wedding that was it. There was no card or special moment. My mom is so not like that.
So for the boys I celebrate everything. Last day of school. 100% on a test. Lets celebrate. Just small things like fancy napkins or a small treat after school.
When my birthday rolls around it's clear who does the planning and gift purchasing as you hear the tickets chirp when it's time to give momma the gifts.
I also like to get people gifts and cards. Before I had kids I liked to take the birthday persono lunch or dinner. But life has gotten so crazy for me recently I havent been able to do that and I miss it. It's like I cant really show my favorite people how much I love them.
Another thing that has happened since I have had kids (and I am not blaming them or wishing they'd go away) it seems I am always late. Running late. In a rush. The birthdy card/gift is always late. I hate that. Always arriving some place just a moment too late or very late all together.

So I didnt miss Jenn's birthday it's been on my mind for sure. But my card was late, my post about how wonderful she is to me was early. I am all mixed up. Sorry about that. But I think she had a great day which to me is all that matters.
