Summer Girl

I remember summers when I was in high school. I spent most of them with Lisa. I rode my bike to her house, we swam all day then I rode home. If we did a good job of watching her brother and sister her mom would let us go to the movies on Friday nights. That was a big treat.
I was tan. I was fit (all that swimming and riding) I spent all day and all night outside. I didnt watch much tv. We listened to the radio all day long, read magazines and books. I could tell you how to put lemon juice in your hair to make it look "sun kissed" I could tell you how often to move your straps around so you wouldnt get tan lines. These were important things.
I lost 30 lbs that summer and went back to school totally different.

I dont have lemon juice in the house. I used lime and I dont think it's the same but I smell good. I used SPF 30 on aged areas not the SPF 5 or -10 I use to use.
I havent riden anywhere. It's a different kind of summer but I am hoping maybe the boys will have some nice memories of spending an afternnon in the blow up pool with momma.

I've been thinking about the same type of stuff lately. Boy did we take for granted just sitting outside and getting a tan and spraying Sun In in our hair. Our time will come again, I just know it. I think we will be the most appreciative 50 year olds that ever walked the planet. I've got a list of things I will be doing when my time comes again. Starting with Surfing. But on the flip side, I'm amazed at how much joy it has given me to do for my kids. So maybe right now I shouldn't take that for granted and enjoy this time while it's here. This special time will be gone soon as well. Brandon is already taking as much independence as we allow him at 14. So start looking at surf boards, in about 10 - 15 years I'm dragging you out there with me.
