Hello

Today I walked the halls of the hospital doing my hours of my volunteer gig. Let me tell you I walked that place a few times. This one lady that I worked with likes to take the stairs, good for her, but gee whiz you really get a work out after you do that a few time up to the second floor.
Hippa (which is not a female hippo. Go figure) prevents me from telling you all the good stories I have. I will tell you I was discharging this patient (sound odd huh? Like I shot her out of a cannon or something huh?) and as I was working with her wheelchair and her oxygen tank, the hose popped off of the tank. sigh. I thought I was going to lose her! Luckily I popped it back on and she was on her way. Some folks seem way too frail to be going home but I know they would rather be home than the hospital. (Yes the hospital with the flat screen tvs in every room and the free diet coke for the Tammy who would want to leave that?)
I learned a lot. Like the volunteers do a lot more than just move people around. We take samples to the lab (big samples) we take paperwork everywhere. We help nurses move patients from one area to another. We stay with patients till they are in their room or until someone picks them up.
I have meet some wonderful people and have had a great time.

Now to get my kids ready for the first day of school tomorrow.
